Drill 1-2-3

This past weekend was another drill weekend.
  1. Friday: Lee and I went to dinner at one of our favorite new restaurants in town; Cha-Cha's. They have some yummy Mexican food and an extra yummy swirl that I love. They were crazy packed and we didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a table. Instead, we saddled up to the bar and ate there. It was nice to impromptu our way to dinner for a quick bite. We didn't have much time because Lee had to get home and pack, etc for his big weekend.
  2. Saturday:I did my best to do a whole lot of nothing while he was gone. I did manage the laundry, clean the sheets and other necessary things I do on the weekends. I mention laundry and sheets as two separate chores because washing our sheets and taking our duvet off our king size comforter is a hassle to me. So...I guess I was a bit productive but it wasn't at all the typical chaotic Saturday that has been occurring lately. Saturday night I went to see Shutter Island with Nick, Kristie, Taylor and Jacob. We ate dinner in the balcony. In a nutshell; the movie wasn't balcony worthy but it's always a treat to have Date Night with friends. We're all super excited about Nick and Kristie having a baby in a week!
  3. Sunday: I watched too much HGTV when I couldn't sleep Saturday night. Sunday afternoon I strolled around a few places and found some fabulous material to bling out my curtains in the dining room. I have to admit that I am pretty proud of myself. I haven't taken a picture of the now complete dining room but I'll give you a peek at the before and after of the curtains. Lee was impressed when he came home and saw the curtains. He actually liked them! The Army gave him more shots and sent him home hungry again. I'm glad he prefers my food to theirs. This month there is exciting news to share from drill weekend! A Military Ball is approaching us! My first Ball. I am super excited. The SGTS were vague with the details but we should be receiving more information soon. I'm going to start dress shopping...Scroll down to see the camera phone curtain pictures!

Whoot Whoot

I just received a call that our new light fixture for the dining room will be delivered to the store today. We'll probably pick it up tomorrow since the store is a bit North of us. This Christmas present took FOREVER to get here since it has been on back order. I guess it's more like a Valentine's gift now, eh???

Double Up

Lee's mom sent us flowers for Valentine's Day! Jan is so sweet. I'm assuming Lee's flowers were sent to me because he can't receive them at work due to security regulations, etc. I don't mind getting flowers by the double!

Homemade & Fabulous

Jan's friend; Cathy made us this delicious cheescake and brought it to the house. It was ALMOST too pretty to eat.

Shopping Around the House

I have so many frames...The large green frame used to be a mirror. I took the glass out and painted it with leftover paint that we used in the breakfast nook. Three of the frames are antiques that I rescued from my mother-in-law's garage sale last Summer! Each of the frames have a unique texture and dimension when viewed up close. This picture's quality isn't that great but I was pleased with the overall look the frames created.

The sun is shining and it feels so good. It's my favorite day of the week and all day long. The weekend is near and I'm going to do whatever I want. Feeling crafty and I may drop-in on some antique stores tomorrow...
Poser unknown but this pic makes me smile.

Blessed

We lost Lee's dad to Cancer early Thursday morning of last week. The funeral was on Monday. I'm just getting back to work and in the groove of reality today. It's all a bit surreal. Our family and friends have really pulled together. Flowers, food, cards, calls and prayers poured into the house over the weekend. Words cannot express how incredibly touched we all are. This picture was taken this past Summer when we were going to see Lee's Basic/OSUT Graduation at Ft. Benning.
