My buddies and I had dinner and did a little bowling Friday night for Nick's big 3-0!!! I know Lee would have loved to have been there. I'm getting really good a being the 5th wheel but I'm looking forward to NOT being one. Ha!
I painted one of the guest rooms white on Saturday. Not finished yet but I'm liking the progress:
I took another pic of the entry too:
I painted one coat of paint and then washed up to head to Kaden's 2nd birthday party. Kaden is Nick's son whose party I went to on Friday. His mama, Kristie, has a birthday on St. Patty's Day! Big month for them, huh?! (Nick and Kristie's anniversary is also in March!)
Random. I ordered a mermaid bottle opener from Pottery Barn. It was $8.50, free shipping and I love mermaids. Why not?
I picked up groceries from Target on Sunday and found foo dogs!!! Shut the front door. Do you know that I have been saving foo dog links to my favorites from all over the web?! I've been scowling to myself for waiting too long to by the coveted orange ones CB2 had before they sold out. $9.99 each at Target. Sold! In my cart and on my mantel now. So excited. I'm not done styling the mantel but this is them:

TGIF!!!
I wish the Army was a BIT more prompt on reimbursing their Soldiers. Lee is supposed to be reimbursed for his living quarters, food, etc while gone. Apparently "any day" our funds should be deposited into our account. It's been 2 months and we're still waiting. Meanwhile, I'm paying our mortgage and his rent. Ridiculous.
I got home and scrubbed the heck out of the shower. I grow more infuriated by the minute that tile dude left the bathroom in an icky condition when he finished tiling. After the water dried, I noticed that there is still more to scrub but I decided I would wait until I buy a new scrubber because the one I was using obviously wasn't getting the job done...I officially suck at finding good contractors. Tile dude was nice and great to work around my work schedule but I still feel cheated and nice doesn't cut it.
I'm hoping the new grout darkens a bit because it does not match the existing grout. Crikey. I'm going to do some research and see if I can stain or darken it somehow if it comes to that. I am NOT calling tile dude back! Other than the shower floor, I did manage to clean the heck out of that entire bathroom. I sanitized floor to ceiling in there. I was down on all fours to antibacterial wipe the entire bathroom floor and baseboards once I was able to get all the gritty stuff cleaned up. Icky.
I'll take some pix after the scrubbing is complete...
I also vacuumed the heck out of the house. I heart my Dyson. So much dust and grossness happens everywhere when you're having work done in your home.
After all that, I only had time to clean out one of the guestrooms and tape the walls to prep for paint that I mentioned doing HERE before going to bed. I plan on buying Benjamin Moore's famous Decorator's White paint on my lunch hour and then I'll go to Lowe's to get my paint supplies! Woot Woot!!!
Local radio station posted this photo on their FB page today. Makes my heart skip a beat and puts everything in perspective. We are blessed folks, remember that.

white out
I'm so proud of Lee. He has so much on his plate but he's scheduled yet another class to work towards his MBA. Talk about an ambitious man! That's so hott. (to me anyway)
He's able to take classes online while in training and during his deployment. When he returns from his deployment he'll have earned his MBA and another expensive piece of paper!
New project! I'm painting our guestrooms white. I was going through my inspiration files and a majority of the rooms are neutral! Or...with wallpaper and I'm not investing in wallpaper when I know we plan to move after this deployment. I'm liking a clean minimalist white room more and more. I want those rooms to be neutral when we go to sell our house. Painting them now will give me something to do and save me time later. I'm obviously in no rush. I'm going to start with one bedroom and go from there. I'll keep our bedroom blue fo sho. I can't imagine moving all that heavy furniture and I like the soft blue a lot. AND I had left over tile that I can take back to Lowe's. I plan to put that credit + military discount towards white paint! Now I just need to narrow down a paint color. Have you seen how many white swatches there are?! O' lands! (as my grandma would say)

I'm crazy excited about getting busy cleaning the mess the tile guy left. OCD, no? I feel like the grout is good and dry by now. I hope to stop by Lowe's on the way home and get busy cleaning shower tile and taping bedroom walls to paint! House projects give me a weirdo thrill. #iammyowndecorator
