no sew glorious curtains

I love stripes. Now I can see them somewhere else other than my wardrobe.
I mentioned wanting striped curtains in THIS story board.
I gave you a PEEK.
I gave you a hint at my INSPIRATION.

I started with 2 old white faux silk curtain panels I had hiding in our linen closet.

I spent a lot of time on the floor keeping my stripes black strips straight.

And now I have something glorious. Well. The curtains are glorious to me. The new bamboo blinds are  pretty special too. BUT Cooper is my favorite accessory.

Did you see that headless lamp? I have a shade and I'm looking for a fun fabric print to add to it. Thinking about this one but I'm stilling looking.

How did I no sew the curtains?
  1. I used 100% black twill fabric cut into 12 inch strips.
  2. I dove into my heavy stock of Stitch Witchery and steam ironed the strips onto the curtains.
  3. I then used black gross grain ribbon to clean the raw edges.
  4. And ta-da! Ooh and awe at yourself.
I really enjoyed this project and I'm especially loving the look these curtains give this guestroom. I can finally see the room come together now.

I looked into taking a couple sewing classes. As much as I love my no sew system, I know I can vastly improve my end result with a sewing machine. I took a costume class in college but def need a good refresher before I feel good about taking the plunge to buy a sewing machine. Yes folks, I want a sewing machine. Badly. And if it's not too much to ask for, I would like it to embroider too so I can make extra cute stuff. You know I'm a sucker for monograms...I just might monogram all of Lee's underwear before he deploys and pretend he's going to Summer camp. Cute, huh? Don't answer that.

I'm so jealous of your curtains. I still have pile of black and white striped fabric that I've been trying to convince myself to sew since November. It's so daunting! My goal is to start them this week. Yours look great!

Thanks girl! I got a wild hair and just did it. It was pretty simple just time consuming!

How smart. I have been wanting b&w striped curtains but I don't sew! Now I have no excuses.

You are so smart to do that with stitch whichery instead of having to sew them! Cute cute cute!

You make this look too easy! I would certainly screw this up somewhere along the way. :-)

Great job, and thanks for linking up with the Winter Pinterest Challenge!
